Guidance and case studies
This page contains links to resources to support several topics in the GCSE Chemistry specifications, as well as case studies from schools that have already introduced Triple Science GCSEs. The case studies were written by practising teachers to provide ideas and inspiration. Each contains a detailed lesson plan of an innovative approach to teaching a particular topic, such as titrations, testing ions, plate tectonics and equilibria.
There are links to the Royal Society of Chemistry websites chemistryteachers.org and LearnNet. LearnNet includes large sections on topics such as Assessment for Learning and the periodic table as well as all the student worksheets from recent publications such as ‘Kitchen Chemistry’, ‘Inspirational Chemistry’ and ‘Chemistry for the Gifted and Talented’. Practicalchemistry.org offers more than 200 experiments with advice on getting them to work and teaching tips.
If you cannot find what you want in the listed resources, enter keywords from your specification in the Search box on the right. Reduce the number of ‘hits’ by using inverted commas to search for phrases.
