Kidney, dialysis, transplants

This page contains resources to help support both new and experienced teachers with these difficult areas of GCSE Biology.

At a basic level, kidney function can be thought of as simply the production of urine. However, the more advanced concepts of filtration and reabsorption can be difficult to understand. The resources here will help students grasp both the basic and complex processes that are part of kidney function. Treatment of kidney failure by dialysis or transplant and the role of the kidneys in homeostasis are also examined.
