This event on the 11/02/2010 at Castle View School will focus on extending the range of teaching and learning strategies within the context of the extension modules for Triple Science GCSEs. It will provide examples to promote active engagement in the classroom, enabling learners to develop higher order thinking skills. N.B. contexts will be drawn from a range of topics common to all specifications).
The outline for the day is:
Session 1: The use of teaching and learning models to increase challenge, improve conversion L6 to A*A and to meet Classroom Quality Standards (CQS) for G&T.
Session 2: Progression in Physics - using the Secondary National Strategy framework to support planning for appropriate progression in a key idea.
Session3: Using the Triple Science website www.triplescience.org.uk to support teaching extension modules in Physics.
Session 4: Enhancing learning by the use of ICT i.e. Use or PhotoStory, Movie maker, Podcasting or computer simulations.
Session 5: Other resources to engage students within the contexts of the extension modules in Physics, e.g. Leading in Learning, Upd8, AKSIS, SATIS, SNS Interactive Teaching.
