Collaborative Networks

Collaboration between schools is potentially a fruitful way of overcoming the shortage of specialist teachers – particularly in physics and chemistry. As Triple Science becomes more popular, collaboration between institutions will become more of a necessity to overcome the shortage. This is particularly the case among schools that

  • have an incentive to cooperate,
  • are in areas where there are some like-minded schools, and
  • have a Local Authority (LA) that is supportive of the idea of collaboration to deliver Triple Science.

The collaborative networks funded by the Triple Science Support Programme give organizations or existing networks the opportunity to progress existing work or develop new projects to support the implementation and delivery of Triple Science in schools. Membership of a collaborative network enables practitioners to access a wealth of knowledge, materials, training, support and advice.

The objectives of the Triple Science collaborative networks are to:

  • promote delivery of the Triple Science entitlement leading to an overall increase of 15% in the number of young people taking Triple Science across the network
  • provide a forum for the dissemination of good practice in the delivery of Triple Science – both locally and nationally
  • undertake a collaborative development project that will help schools and teachers in the planning, preparation and implementation of Triple Science GCSEs
  • make links across collaborative networks nationally via the LSN Triple Science Community http://community.triplescience.org.uk

The TS networks provide a forum for the dissemination of good practice – both locally and nationally. Network members are able to exchange ideas and share practice with other teachers via the LSN Triple Science community.
