Chemistry Unit 3

Enhanced presentation to explore infra-red(IR) – ultra-violet (UV) spectroscopy in action

Activity 2: Making your own movie using our clips

Use our library of pre-generated video clips to produce your own video. Video editing can be carried out by using Windows Movie Maker, iMovie or your favourite video editing tool. You can also find your own clips online and to make your own edit.

  • Assemble clips.
  • Import the clips into Windows Movie Maker by dragging and dropping the files.
  • You can order the clips by dragging and dropping the movie clips onto the timeline shown in the screenshot below. If you overlap the clips they will fade into each other, but you can also choose a wide selection of transition effects. Movie Maker also allows you to add an audio track, or written titles. If you wish to crop a particular clip, key 'Split' on the right-hand side. Preview your total video project in the thumbnail in the top right. Remember to save your project often.

  • When you are ready to export your movie, press control-P and export it with the default settings on .wma.
  • Use this video as an input to Activity 1.
  • Resource supplied – Clip library

Note: In this series of e-learning activities, Biology Unit 1 has a full tutorial on digital video editing.
