Stem cell research exploration through digital video

Activity 1: Download video

Use one of the many educational sites that offer educational digital videos for download. The video that has been downloaded for this activity is called 'KS3/4 Science – Stem Cell Research: The Issue'.

Follow these steps:

  • Visit Teachers TV website and register free. This registration will allow you to download and comment on programmes. Teachers TV allows you to build a bank of videos, which you can use to build your knowledge bank and support in your lesson delivery
  • Once logged in, enter the words 'stem cells' in the search box.
  • Select the video KS3/4 Science – Stem Cell Research: The Issue.
  • You are ready to download this video. Click on the 'download video' link. Next, right click on the icon 'Windows Media' and then select 'Save target as...'. Then you can save the video in a folder on your computer (the original video downloaded for you to view named 'Stem cell research original video' (Figure 1).
  • Extra tip: If you download Real Player 11 and install it on your computer, you will be able to download any video into your machine by clicking the 'Download This Video' button, which will appear on top of all videos playing.
